New Construction and Space Planning

The City of Chula Vista and its residents and businesses are responsible for meeting the state mandate to reduce or divert 50% of their waste generated each year from landfills. The City and its residents are subject to civil penalties of as much as $10,000 per day for failure to meet that state-mandated goal. In order for residents and businesses to achieve the 50% goal, structures need to have the space and design that allows for convenient separation and collection of the materials/commodities that can be diverted from the waste stream for recycling. The following documents provide the basic information and contacts for permit applicants to develop a solid waste management plan for their facilities.
