Public Hearing to Consider Disestablishment
On September 20, 2012, the Chula Vista City Council adopted a resolution of intention to disestablish the CVTMD. That resolution was adopted in response to petitions, submitted on behalf of business owners who pay 50 percent or more of the CVTMD assessments, requesting disestablishment of the CVTMD. The resolution was adopted pursuant to California Streets and Highways Code Section 36670.
The City of Chula Vista City Council will hold a public hearing to consider disestablishment of the Chula Vista Tourism and Marketing District on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 5:00 pm in Council chambers (time certain).
At the public hearing, the public will have the opportunity to protest the validity of one or more petitions, challenge the determination that the 50 percent threshold was reached, and present other testimony and evidence relevant to the requested disestablishment. At the conclusion of the hearing, the City Council may disestablish the district.
District Disestablished New!
A public hearing was held on October 23, 2012 to consider disestablishing the CVTMD. At the hearing the City Council took public testimony and considered the request to disestablish. At the conclusion of the hearing, the City Council adopted a resolution disestablishing the district.
All district hotels and motels are advised to cease collection of the CVTMD assessment, effective October 24, 2012.
