Department Head
Jack Griffin, Director for the General Services Department, joined
the City in August of 2000. Jack was originally hired by the City
as a Principal Management Assistant in the Public Works Department
and was promoted to the Director’s position in August of 2003.
Jack came to the City after serving as the Assistant Township Manager
and Planning Director for Moon Township, a suburban city near Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania.
During Mr. Griffin’s tenure with the City he has provided
overall management and development of the City’s Capital Improvement
Program. In October of 2002, Jack was promoted to the position of
Assistant Director in the Office of Building and Park Construction.
He has worked on such projects as the construction of Fire Station
No. 7, renovations to Fire Stations 2 and 4, the Nature Center’s
David A. Wergeland Shark and Ray Experience, various parks, and
the Civic Center Complex Remodel.
In July of 2003, the newly formed General Services Department was
created. This new department combined the staffs of the former Office
of Building and Park Construction with the Building Construction
and Repair and the Custodial Services staff that were formerly in
the Public Works Department.
The Department has since further grown with the addition of the Animal Care Facility formerly in the Police Department, Internal Communications formerly in the Public Works Department and Waste Management formerly in the Office of the City Manager effective July 1, 2005.
Jack is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received his
Bachelor’s Degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
