Application Information
Become a City Hall Greeter
Here are just a few volunteer and intern opportunities available
with the City of Chula Vista. Review the Volunteer Application for
more ideas. Some positions may require fingerprinting and/or background
checks.
- Animal Care Facility
Volunteer assignments may include the care and feeding of animals,
exercising animals, assisting the public with adoptions, fostering
animals, and performing clerical work and providing general maintenance
of the Shelter.
- Fire Department
CAST, the Citizen’s Adversity Support Team, is jointly operated
by the Fire Department and the Police Department. CAST assist
fellow citizens during crisis situations. Members of the CAST
team are required to attend specialized training for four months
and are required to be on-call for emergencies.
- Library
Volunteers assist in the three branches of the library, Heritage
Museum and through the Friends of the Library. Volunteers assist
with audiovisual equipment, the delivery of books to those who
are homebound, the binding and repair of books, and many other
related tasks.
- Nature Center
The Nature Center uses volunteers to care for animals and birds,
staff the exhibit pool and bookstore, ground keeping, and provide
information services. Docents and clerical workers are also needed.
- Parks and Recreation
Volunteers are needed for recreation classes, including coaching
winter and summer youth sports, pool supervisors, and working
with our communities; senior population. Department volunteers
help with operations and can assist in activities.
- Police Department
The Police Department has numerous volunteer opportunities including
general police support in the office, Explorer Scouts, Mounted
Police, Police Reserve, Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP), and Graffiti
Abatement.
- Senior Services
Senior Services and the Norman Park Senior Center use volunteers
to act as host/hostesses for special projects and occasions, answer
phones and to assist with office work.
