Office of Arts & Culture Mission Statement

To promote and celebrate Chula Vista's multi-cultural artistic heritage and to ensure a social and economic climate in which art, culture and the creative processes can flourish thereby enriching the quality of life for the entire community.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of the Office of Arts and Culture is to increase the opportunities for people to experience and appreciate the performing and visual arts within the community.

Core Services

Fostering cooperation among the city, local artists, schools, cultural organizations, and the private sector to ensure the well being and growth of the cultural community  Providing the community with opportunities for frequent exposure to the visual and performing arts and the means of cultural expression   Ensuring that the arts are integral to civic dialogue and community building by involving residents in the City's cultural planning and decision-making processes

• Promoting arts education as a critical component of learning for all people in the community 

• Coordinating and continually developing the City's Public Art program 

• Coordinating the City's Performing and Visual Arts Task Force grant program
