Chula Vista Public Library will accept qualifying food donations in lieu of library fines for the month of December at all three branches.
Each guest may have up to $10 in fines cleared off of their card. Each "qualifying" item brought in will count towards $1 in fines.
Food For Fines may not be used to pay for lost/damaged materials or collection agency fees.
Qualifying foods are nonperishable (i.e., canned food, dried pasta, grains) food that have not passed the expiration date.
Non-nutritious food (candy, chips, peanuts and soda, etc.) and food in damaged containers can not be accepted.
All donations will benefit South Bay Community Services.
Santa will make an appearance at a storytime for each branch.
