The Friends of the Chula Vista Library, a non-profit membership
organization, was founded in 1968 by a group interested in
making the library a vital community resource. The Friends
are interested residents of all ages, from all walks of life
who love books and the magic they contain. They want to share
and spread that magic throughout our community. The Friends
of the Library are:
- Providers of supplemental funds for maintaining and improving
library services and facilities.
- Sponsors of cultural programs throughout the year for
the entire community.
- Underwriters of the Summer Reading Programs for children
and young adults.
- Providers of important extras for the library system.
- Contributors of volunteer services to the library system
amounting to hundreds of hours a month.
- Agents for the library system in the war against illiteracy.
Our goals
- to provide important extras for the Chula Vista Public
Library system.
- to raise supplemental funds for maintaining and improving
library services and facilities.
- to sponsor cultural programs throughout the year for
the entire community.
- to help underwrite the cost of the children’s and
young adult’s Summer Reading Programs.
- to promote literacy by contributing equipment, money and
time.
- to acquire, preserve and display the history of our community.
- to contribute volunteer services to the library system.
