The Public Works Department provides and manages the City's infrastructure, parks, and open space through high quality operations, maintenance and construction in order to optimize mobility, public and environmental health, and safety.

Public Works consists of the following lines of business.

Infrastructure Maintenance. Provides maintenance of public streets, sidewalks, City trees, traffic signals, and wastewater & stormwater systems.
Inspection Services. Provides efficient and cost-effective construction contract and permit administrative services.
Parks and Open Space. Maintains over 400 acres of immaculately maintained arks for all to enjoy and over 1,500 aces of open space.

Administration. Provides business management and environmental services to all Operations’ divisions including clerical and technical support.

Transit. Provides public transit services for the residents and visitors of the City of Chula Vista.

Environmental Services. Responsible for pursuing waste management strategies that emphasize more efficient use of our resources through waste inimization/reduction, reuse, recycling and environmentally sound disposal strategies.

The Department is housed in the John Lippitt Public Works Center located at 1800 Maxwell Road, just north of Auto Park Drive and east of I-805.

Individuals are encouraged to call the Public Works main number at (619) 397-6000 to report any infrastructure related problems such as potholes, graffiti, signs, sewer, City trees, etc. Problems can now also be made using our new web-based application.
