Awards

Chula Vista's Mount San Miguel Community Park Recognized for Excellence

The City of Chula Vista received an Award of Excellence from the California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) for the category of “Park Planning – Community” of Mt. San Miguel Ranch Park. The 19-acre community park, located at 2335 Paseo Veracruz, was built in 2010 and designed by San Diego’s Schmidt Design Group.

In addition to three softball fields, Mt. San Miguel Ranch includes many community amenities such as an off-leash dog park, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas. An adjacent open space area is surrounded by walking trails that connect to regional trails and provide beautiful views. The children’s play area has been designed in the shape of a California Quail.

According to Chula Vista Recreation Director, Buck Martin, “The CPRS awards program is the highest recognition our Parks and Recreation can receive. We are honored to receive this award on behalf of our residents.” Chula Vista, with a population of 244,000, is home to 53 community parks.

CPRS is a membership organization with 3400 members representing the 535 local parks and recreation agencies throughout the state.
