Question: Why do you need my personal information for a work request?    
Answer: When a work request is being processed, quite often, we need more infomation than was originally given. With contact information, there may be cases where we simply cannot complete a work request due to insufficient information. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, please call (619) 397-6000 and our dispatcher will assist you.    

Question: What if I do not want to enter my name on the online work request?    
Answer: Our online work request system requires a first and last name in order to enter a request. There are frequent cases where we need further information, and without contact info, are unable to obtain it. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, we ask that you please call (619) 397-6000. They can take your request over the phone, and get the pertinent details while you are still on the line.    

Question: How can I track the status of my work request?    
Answer: When you submit a work request, and provide us with your email, you will automatically be sent a confirmation email with a tracking number and a link to the webpage where you can track the status. This tracking system will provide you with status changes as the work request is being processed. Please make sure to keep this email, and if you have any questions, please call (619) 397-6000.    

Question: What is the typical response time for work requests submitted?    
Answer: It depends on the severity of the request. For graffiti, there is a 48 hour turn around time, whereas potholes are backlogged and a time frame is more difficult to provide. If a request is determined to be an emergency, it will take top priority. If you have any questions, please call (619) 397-6000.    

Question: Can I submit work requests for private property?    
Answer: Yes, if it pertains to graffiti only. Graffiti removal is the only service we offer if it is located on private property. You can submit you request online at the page, or by calling the graffiti hotline at (619) 691-5198.    

Question: If I don't see the category for the type of work request I'd like to submit, what are my options?    
Answer: At our Service Requests page, we do not yet offer the ability to submit ALL kinds of service requests. If you do not see the right category for your request, it's possible it's not available for submission online. In this case, please call (619) 397-6000. If you're uncertain, you can also click the Contact Us link, select Public Works Service Request, and submit.    

Question: What details do I need to include in a work request submitted online?    
Answer: A good rule of thumb for the online work request is the more information you can provide, the better. The more information we have, specifically with regard to location, the more able we are to complete the request.    

Question: What is the difference between a sewer and stormdrain related problem?    
Answer: If you are not sure, please contact Public Works at (619) 397-6000 during regular business hours for clarification. They can also take any service requests over the phone.    

Question: How would I submit questions and comments related to online work requests?    
Answer: You may do so by visiting our Service Requests page, and clicking on the Contact Us link. Select Public Works Service Requests from the drop down menu of divisions, and then simply send your request. These are directed to the administrator of the Online Service Requests page, and will be responded to promptly. For more information, please call (619) 397-6000.    

Question: Can I submit a request for animal rendering?    
Answer: This is a service provided by the Animal Care Facility, but not one that we are able to take online. To make a request or get more information, please call (619) 691-5123.
