Built in 1955 the Parkway Family Aquatic Center has long been the center of aquatic activity in Chula Vista.
The pool is 33 meters by 25 yards and has two one-meter diving boards. This outdoor pool offers a wide variety of programs for youth, adults and senior citizens. Its intimate nature makes it a favorite of lap swimmers.
The water is heated to a comfortable temperature throughout the year. The pool features indoor heated dressing and shower areas. Lockers are not available.

Parkway Aquatic staff is available to process registrations and answer calls during office hours. You may also register for classes on-line or at any Recreation Center.

Swim Lessons
Red Cross certified instructors create a fun learning environment in which students of all ages and abilities can develop a love for aquatics. Parent & Tot and Tiny Tot classes focus on water adjustment and teaching fundamental skills that will facilitate learning more advanced strokes. Students are taught skills through a logical progression of levels that requires building on previously mastered abilities. For this reason, students are not permitted to advance to the next level until they are proficient in all of the skills of the current level. All swimmers in Level 1 to Level 6 are tested on the first day of class to determine their appropriate level. Due to enrollment some levels are combined.

Swim Lesson Class Description and Time Listing
Parent & Tot
Ages 6 months - 3 years
Parents join their children in the water for basic water adjustment and safety skills in a warm, enjoyable environment. Having a parent in the water allows our younger aquatic fanatics to gain comfort and confidence.
Children in these classes must wear swim diapers or tight fitting rubber pants.
Water adjustment safety skills and basic introductory swimming skills are presented in a fun environment. This class introduces children to aquatic instruction without a parent.
Swimming skills and personal safety skills are taught to beginning, intermediate and advanced students. Children registered for levels 1 to level 6 will be assessed on the first day of class to determine the most appropriate level to enhance their aquatic development. Enrollment in these classes can some times require that more than one level be combined.
Designed to bridge swim lessons with competitive swimming, this program provides focused instruction on the racing strokes, starts, turns and finishes. A perfect introduction to swim team.

The Water Aerobics class is conducted in shallow water, and is an excellent opportunity for non-swimmers to enjoy aquatics. All classes feature a warm-up, intensity progression, strength and agility work, and cool-down exercises.
