  • CHULA VISTA SEEKS NOMINEES FOR ANNUAL AWARDS | NEW

The City of Chula Vista’s Resource Conservation Commission (RCC) has created two significant annual awards-- Environmentalist of the Year and Historic Preservationist of the Year. Members of the Commission will select awardees and honor recipients at a Beautification Awards Banquet.

Candidates who are nominated for the awards must qualify under the criteria established by the RCC.  Commission members are looking for people or groups who have made noteworthy contributions to the community and, as a result, have enhanced the quality of life for all Chula Vista residents.

Environmentalist of the Year:  An individual or group concerned with improving the natural environment of the City of Chula Vista and its surroundings. A candidate may have played a key role in any of the following areas: reducing traffic, solid waste, air and water pollution; preserving natural habitats; or creating innovative events or businesses that focus attention on enhancing the environment.

Historic Preservationist of the Year:  An individual or group involved with preservation efforts that affect the City of Chula Vista including: restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings and sites, additions to historic structures and contextual in-fill projects. Accomplishments must have taken place within the City’s boundaries or impacted the City in some meaningful way.

Those who recommend a candidate will be asked to submit a brief statement explaining how their nominee’s accomplishments apply to the Commission’s criteria.
