Development Planning Section
The
Development Planning Section (commonly referred to as current planning)
is responsible for administering the City's Zoning Ordinance and
processing all applications for development review, with the exception
of new development in Otay Ranch. In
addition, this section is responsible for implementing the City's
Design Review and Landscape Review Program and providing information
to the public regarding all City planning and zoning matters. This
section provides primary staff support to the Planning Commission and Design Review
Committee.
Public Information
In Person: Visit the Planning and Building public counter between
the revised hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday & Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday. The counter
is located within the Chula Vista Civic Center in the Public Services
Building at 276 Fourth Avenue.

Project Planners review projects based upon the geographic location
of the site. The City is divided into the following districts:
- Northwest: North of "L" Street, West of I-805
- Southwest: South of "L" Street, West of I-805
- Eastern: East of I-805
