CalGreen. The California Green Building Standards Code
Green Building is a whole system approach to the design, construction and operation of buildings that employs materials and methods that promote resource conservation, energy efficiency and good indoor air quality. CalGreen incorporates these measures to compliment our Cities commitment to a better built and natural environment for all.
The effective date of this new Code is January 1st, 2011 for all of California. Chula Vista Municipal Code Ordinance, 15.12, amends this Code to include residential and non-residential remodels and additions of any size. Chapter 4 of the Code contains the Residential Mandatory Measures and Chapter 5 contains Non-Residential Mandatory Measures. While the entire Code has been adopted the Voluntary Measures in Appendix A4 and A5 are not being enforced.
Plans submitted on or after January 1st, 2011 are subject to compliance with CaLGreen and new residential and non-residential construction, additions, remodels and improvements will benefit from:
- Energy efficiency
- Pollutant control
- Interior moisture control
- Improved indoor air quality and exhaust
- Indoor Water conservation
- Storm water management
- Construction waste reduction, disposal and recycling.
