Southwest Planning Process
The preparation of specific plans or other implementing zoning and development regulations is mandated by the 2005 General Plan for each of the five Southwest planning districts (Palomar Gateway, West Fairfield, Main Street, South Third Avenue and South Broadway Districts) in order to provide the tools necessary to implement the objectives and policies of the 2005 General Plan. In July and August 2009 the Development Services Department began the process of creating these plans/regulations by conducting three Southwest Urban Design Workshops to gather early public input on future land uses, transportation, and urban design for Southwest Chula Vista.
Approximately thirty people attended each of these three workshops, which were intended to foster and bring forth the community's diverse viewpoints. The intent of these workshops was to quickly develop rough Concepts Diagrams drawing on the input of local residents, property/business owners and community organization.

Notice of Preparation
Southwest Working Group
The Southwest Working Group was established in December 2009 to oversee activities related to the various planning efforts anticipated for Southwest Chula Vista. The Working Group consists of approximately 25 community members representing a wide variety of area stakeholders. The Working Group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the South Chula Vista Branch Library, 389 Orange Avenue, Multipurpose Use Room B, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
