About Redevelopment & Housing

The City of Chula Vista’s Redevelopment Agency and Housing Authority were formed in 1972 and 1993, respectively, to turn declining areas of the community around and support affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate income families.  Through a variety of projects and programs, Redevelopment and Housing has facilitated numerous community improvements, stimulated private investment and provided a continuum of affordable housing options.  Together, these activities serve to enhance the quality of life for Chula Vista residents and the City’s economic outlook.

FEDERAL ECONOMIC RECOVERY & STIMULUS FUNDS

The City of Chula Vista has received or is eligible to receive several new funding sources through the Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA) of 2008 and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) in order to stabilize and/or stimulate the local economy.  The Redevelopment & Housing Department is responsible for the adminstration or application of the programs listed below.  In order to find out additional information on these programs, click here.
