As a lifelong Chula Vista resident, Rudy Ramirez is proud to have his roots in our community. His education, real-life experience owning and running a Chula Vista business for 20 years, and his long history of community involvement have prepared him well for service as a member of the Chula Vista City Council.
Ramirez, an outstanding community volunteer, was chosen to serve on several important city boards and commissions, including Chula Vista’s Board of Ethics, General Plan Update Steering Committee, and the Advisory Committee for Bayfront Development.
Ramirez was raised in Chula Vista. He attended local public schools, graduated from Castle Park High School, attended Southwestern College and graduated from Chico State with degrees in International Relations, Economics, and Spanish. Education and personal growth have always been important in his life, and since college he has attained professional certificates in International Trade and Business, World Class Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management from UCSD and USD.
An innovative entrepreneur, Ramirez started a welding and metal fabrication business in Chula Vista back in 1986. Today that small business is San Diego Architectural Metals, with manufacturing operations in Chula Vista and Tecate, Mexico.
In addition, Ramirez serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of San Diego and on the Advisory Council for the San Diego Center for the Blind.
