A Message from the Fire Chief

James Geering

James Geering

Welcome to the Chula Vista Fire Department.  From a small group of volunteer firemen in 1921, to a well trained, professional group of career firefighters, the Chula Vista Fire Department proudly serves its community seven days a week 24 hours a day.  We believe in our history and the accomplishments made over the past 87 years by the dedicated firefighters who came before us seeking to make a difference.  Today, more than 120 dutifully sworn members and a supporting staff of devoted employees are committed to meeting the needs of more than 230,000 residents of the City Of Chula Vista.

In addition to daily priorities such as training, maintenance of equipment, and pre-incident preparation we value service, protection, pride, respect, teamwork, and safety.  At the Chula Vista Fire Department, we agree that the focus is on the customer at all times and what is best for the customer is best for our fire department.

Once again, welcome to the Chula Vista Fire Department.  We hope you will join our passion for public safety and fire protection.  Take a look inside our website and “feel” the tradition and enthusiasm of the Chula Vista Fire Department.
