Swiftwater Rescue Operations 1
Prerequisite: Basic swimming ability, LARRO recommended. This two (2) day course is a basic level water rescue course for emergency first responders designed to meet and exceed the NFPA 1670 Standard on Operations & Training for Technical Search & Rescue Incidents (Revised 2009) for water at the operations level. At the conclusion of this course, students will have the ability to self-rescue, perform land based rescues, and support technicians for in-water and advanced rescue techniques. Topics: Hydrology, water rescue assement and size up, self-rescue skills, land based victim rescue skills, simple rope rescue systems, and technician support skills. Water PPE (Swiftwater helmet, full wetsuit / drysuit, type III or V rescue PFD with whistle, and booties).
