Police Support Services provides support services to the public, all
sections of the police department, other law enforcement agencies,
county and city prosecutors through transcription, processing, proper
dissemination and maintenance of police documents.
Public services include:
Police Reports
All official reports of the police department are maintained by
the police department's Records Division. The California Public
Records Act specifies the types of records that are public in nature.

Note: it usually takes up to ten (10) working days for most reports
to be processed and available
Copies of Police Reports
Traffic Collision reports are $10.00 and Incident Reports are $2.00
per report at the time of request. Request forms for all police
reports are available at the front counter in the Police Department.
Report requests will be processed within 10 working days from the
date of the request. Picture identification is required before release
of police reports. You can also request a copy by mail by writing
to: Chula Vista Department, Attention: Records, 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, CA 91910. Payment can be made by cash or check. Credit
cards are not accepted. All reports are mailed.

Fingerprinting Services
Ink fingerprinting is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to
11:30 am. The cost is $10.00 for two cards. A picture ID is required
for fingerprinting services. The Chula Vista Police Department is
not a certified INS fingerprinting station and cannot fingerprint
for immigration purposes. Contact the INS for a list of certified
fingerprinting locations.
LiveScan Fingerprinting
The California Department of Justice maintains an automated process
for checking the background of individuals using fingerprint submissions.
These background checks may be required by certain agencies as a
condition of employment or identity confirmation. Electronic fingerprinting
- known also as Applicant Live Scan - helps to speed this review
process.

The cost varies, depending upon need. The fee is $20 per set of
prints plus any costs associated with submission of the fingerprints
to the State.
Registered Offenders
Arson, sex and narcotics offenders who are required by law to register
with the Chula Vista Police Department may do so at the Business
Office from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday.
