Picture identification is required before release of police reports. You can also request a copy by mail by writing to: Chula Vista Department, Attention: Records, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910. Payment can be made by cash or check. Fingerprinting Services
Ink fingerprinting is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 11:30 am. The cost is $10.00 for two cards. A picture ID is required for fingerprinting services. The Chula Vista Police Department is not a certified INS fingerprinting station and cannot fingerprint for immigration purposes. Contact the INS for a list of certified fingerprinting locations.

LiveScan Fingerprinting
The California Department of Justice maintains an automated process for checking the background of individuals using fingerprint submissions. These background checks may be required by certain agencies as a condition of employment or identity confirmation. Electronic fingerprinting - known also as Applicant Live Scan - helps to speed this review process.

To make an appointment for LiveScan fingerprinting, Schedule Online or call (619) 409-5954.

The cost varies, depending upon need. The fee is $20 per set of prints plus any costs associated with submission of the fingerprints to the State.

Registered Offenders
Arson, sex and narcotics offenders who are required by law to register with the Chula Vista Police Department may do so at the Business Office from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday.
