Investigations Division

The Investigations Division consists of specialized units whose officers and
detectives work predominately plain-clothes assignments. The units within the Investigations Division include Criminal Investigations, Crimes of Violence, Property Crimes, Family Protection, Special Investigations (and associated task forces), City Jail, Professional Standards, Police Dispatch and Police Technology.

Captain
Gary Ficacci |
Captain Gary Ficacci began his law enforcement career in 1988 as a San Diego County Deputy Sheriff. After two years as a jail deputy, he was hired by the Chula Vista Police Department where he served in the uniformed patrol division, worked street narcotics and major narcotics on a US Customs task force. He worked robbery and homicide cases as a Crimes of Violence detective before being promoted to sergeant on December 31, 1999.
As a sergeant, he worked in uniform and supervised the Crimes of Violence Unit. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2004 and managed the Investigations Division for four years prior to his promotion to captain.
Captain Ficacci served for 14 years on the Department’s SWAT team, with over four years as the SWAT Commander.
Captain Ficacci has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Diego State University and he is a graduate of the West Point Leadership program at LAPD. Born and raised in Chula Vista, he is married to his friend since junior high school Jennifer and they have two adult children, Cassandra and Garrett.
