The School Resource Unit is comprised of Chula Vista law enforcement
officers that function as School Resource Officers (SRO). School
Resource Officers are assigned to Chula Vista elementary, middle
and high schools with the goal of creating and maintaining a safe,
secure and orderly learning environment for students, teachers and
staff.
SROs work closely with the school districts throughout the year.
SROs provide security at sporting events and dances, represent the
police department at district meetings, and work with school administrators
to resolve identified problems. They also give classroom presentations
on topics such as dangers of gang involvement, drug use, and the
development and benefits of positive self esteem.
