MISSION
- To increase the community's confidence in its police department.
- To increase police responsiveness to the community.
- To share concerns, perspectives, ideas and solutions to crime and disorder issues.
The Community Relations Unit provides residents, businesses and visitors
access to the department through public safety information and programs.
Community Events
The Community Relations Unit (CRU) frequently attends and participates in grand openings of businesses, schools and civic events like parades, safety & health fairs. CRU also provides speakers on a variety of safety-related topics.
Neighborhood Watch
A community involvement program where residents and business owners partner with law enforcement for the detection and prevention of crime in their communities.
Security Inspections
A free CVPD service that gives residents and business owners the opportunity to learn cost effective techniques to make their home or business a harder target for criminals.
Citizen & Teen Academies
Annual 10 & 11 week academies that allows the community a unique opportunity to experience an "inside view" of public safety. The goals are to facilitate a sharing of perspectives, through education, about law enforcement practices and to further strengthen the relationship between the CVPD and the community.
Department Tours
We offer tours to groups interested in learning more about the police facility. The School Resource Officer Unit typically handles tours for school-aged children and the Community Relations Unit conducts other groups through the facility
