Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program

A new program aimed at Education combined with Enforcement to reduce
Traffic Collisions and Deaths from Traffic Collisions in the City
of Chula Vista, which was funded by the California Office of Traffic
Safety through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
The Traffic Safety Officer, who coordinates this program, will educate
5000 Students a year on traffic safety related topics with the primary
emphasis on Drinking and Driving and Unsafe Speed.
The Traffic Safety Officer will oversee at least 6 D.U.I. Checkpoints
as well as 6 Special Speed Enforcement Days each year.
Services within this program:
- Residential Yard Sign Program
Yard signs will be given to community members to help reduce speeding
in their residential neighborhoods. These signs will encourage
drivers to slow down.
- Traffic Complaint Program
Community members can call in complaints regarding hazardous drivers.
The owner of the vehicle will be contacted to advise of the safety
issue.
- Traffic Safety Presentations
The Traffic Safety Officer will be available to speak to local
groups and organizations on Traffic Safety Issues.
