Support Operations Division
The Support Operations Division consists of Forensic Services, Evidence Control, City Jail, Police Communications Center, Professional Standards, Training, Police Foundation, and Chief’s Advisory Committee Liaison.
As an officer, Captain Kennedy established a reputation for an outstanding work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to the job. Her passion for police work quickly propelled Captain Kennedy through the ranks to become Chula Vista’s first female Police Lieutenant and Police Captain. She is the highest ranking female officer in the department’s history.
Captain Kennedy worked various assignments through her career including Patrol Officer, Street Team Officer, Field Agent, Background Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, Street Team Sergeant, Watch Commander, Geographic Policing District Commander, and Investigative Division Lieutenant.
In 2013 she was promoted to the rank of Captain where she oversees Support Operations.
During her career Captain Kennedy served on both the Crisis Negotiation Team and the Mobile Field Force Unit for eighteen (18) years, serving in every position, including the last twelve (12) years as the Unit Commander for each team. In addition, Captain Kennedy directs a very active Peer Support Team for the department.
Captain Kennedy has a Bachelor degree in Business Management from California Coast University. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class #243 and serves on the FBINAA California Chapter board of director as Recording Secretary.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and volunteering with two non-profit organizations, Project Compassion providing medical aid to those in need throughout the world and Athletes for Education helping at risk youth in disadvantaged areas within San Diego County.
