8/8/2008 - Stop on Red: schedule of operations

On August 4, 2008 the Chula Vista Police Department began its 2nd Stop On Red project to coincide with the National Stop on Red campaign. Below you will find a schedule of locations and dates where Stop on Red enforcement operations are scheduled.

For the past several years, Chula Vista residents have listed red light running as one of their top concerns. The City of Chula Vista launched its first Stop on Red campaign 22 months ago in September 2006. When compared to the 22-month period before September 2006:

  • Red light citations increased 207%
  • Red light running collisions decreased 16%
  • Red light running fatal and injury collisions decreased 14%
  • The number of people injured decreased 17%
  • The number of people killed dropped from 3 to zero

The following is the STOP on RED enforcement schedule for August:

  • Monday 8/11 - Otay Lakes Road at La Media Road
  • Wednesday 8/13 - East H Street at Paseo Del Rey
  • Friday 8/15 - Eastlake Parkway at Otay Lakes Road
  • Monday 8/18 - Broadway at Palomar Street
  • Wednesday 8/20 - Broadway at Moss Street
  • Friday 8/22 - Hilltop Drive at H Street
  • Monday 8/25 - Paseo Ranchero at Heritage Road
  • Wednesday 8/27 - East H Street at Otay Lakes Road
  • Friday 8/29 - East H Street at Tierra Del Rey

Times are scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., depending on other operations.
