On Saturday, December 13, 2008 Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Unit conducted a Sobriety and Driver License Checkpoint on the 400 block of East H Street in the City of Chula Vista. The operation began at approximately 9 pm and ended at approximately 2 a.m.
During the sobriety checkpoint, 2350 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 557 vehicles were screened. Eleven field sobriety tests were administered and three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Other arrests included possession of marijuana and public intoxication. Eleven vehicles were impounded and twenty-three citations were issued for various vehicle code violations.
This was considered a successful DUI Sobriety Checkpoint. The Chula Vista Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Unit is continuing efforts to keep drivers in our community safe by deterring and detecting impaired drivers.
