On 02-03-2009 at approximately 7:27 PM, officers from the Chula Vista Police Department responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 3100 block of Main Street. When officers arrived on scene, it was discovered the incident involved a vehicle versus a pedestrian. Officers on scene determined there were serious injuries to the pedestrian and the Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau was called to the scene.

Ronald Seiler (12-18-1933 of Chula Vista) was crossing Main Street just west of the intersection at Third Avenue. The driver of the striking vehicle, identified as Peter Dicesare (12-29-1963 of Whittier), was W/B on Main Street. Dicesare struck Seiler, causing head trauma and numerous broken bones to Seiler. Seiler was transported to UCSD Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Dicesare was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Chula Vista Police Department.

The cause of the collision has not been determined. The Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau is currently investigating the collision. Investigating officers are Agent Ratchford and Officer Briles.
