On 03/23/2009 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers from the Chula Vista Police Department stopped the driver of a full size Chevy pick-up truck for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Quintard Street.

As officers approached the truck, the driver fled the scene at high speed. Officers returned to their vehicles and followed the suspect vehicle. A few moments later they discovered the driver had lost control of the truck and collided with a residence in the 1200 block of Tobias Ave.

The residence sustained major damage to the garage, also a newer vehicle in the garage recieved major damage, and a car in the driveway and a car in an adjoining neighbors driveway were damaged.

The 30-year old male driver, David Garcia of Imperial Beach, was partially ejected during the collision and was pinned by the wreckage. Firefighters had to extract him by using hydraulic equipment.

Garcia was arrested for suspicion of D.U.I and transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. He was on probation for a previous DUI.
