San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie M. Dumanis today asked for the public's help in locating a defendant who failed to appear at his trial in a Southbay courtroom on Monday, August 3rd to face robbery, residential burglary and grand theft charges. If convicted on all counts in that case, Simmons could be sentenced to 12 years in state prison. In a separate case, Simmons is scheduled to appear for trial at the Hall of Justice on Monday, August 10th to face 18 felony counts including extortion, criminal threats, conspiracy, forgery and filing false document charges. The real estate fraud charges stem from allegations that Simmons filed bogus grant deeds on properties he did not own. Simmons faces up to 16 years and 8 months in state prison if convicted of all the real estate fraud-related charges in that case. A felony warrant has been issued for Simmons' arrest in the Southbay case. Simmons is known to frequent the East San Diego and Chula Vista areas.
