Imperial Beach- On September 26th, 2009, Officers from Chula Vista, National City, the City of San Diego, San Diego County, and the California Highway Patrol conducted a multi-agency DUI Saturation Patrol in Imperial Beach. The operation was part of the DUI Prosecution and Awareness Program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. During the operation, 10 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence and 18 vehicles were impounded for drivers without licenses. Another suspect was issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol.
This operation completed the first year of this grant program, which has resulted in 147 arrests, 332 citations, and 262 vehicles being impounded throughout the South Bay Region of San Diego County. This program will begin its second year in October, and the South Bay Regional law enforcement agencies will be continuing their efforts to keep drivers in our community safe.
