Chula Vista – Due to inclement weather, the previously scheduled DUI checkpoint was changed and officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol on Saturday February 20 in Chula Vista from 6 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
During the saturation patrol, 6 field sobriety tests were administered with 3 drivers being arrested for driving under the influence and 1 driver being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. 5 vehicles were impounded for suspended/unlicensed drivers and drivers being arrested. A total of 36 citations were issued for various vehicle code violations during the operation.
This was considered a successful DUI operation. The Chula Vista Police Department with funding from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by detecting and deterring impaired drivers.
