On Thursday, August 12, 2010 the Chula Vista Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted a “shoulder tap” operation. This type of operation involves the use of a supervised juvenile decoy who stands outside of a business that sells alcohol products. The decoy solicits people as they walk into the establishment to purchase alcohol for him/her. If the person complies with the request and purchases alcohol they are arrested, cited, and released by on-scene officers.
On 08/12/2010 this operation led to the arrest of four individuals for the crimes of Furnishing Alcohol to Minors and two arrests for Possession of Marijuana in a Vehicle. An additional person was arrested on an outstanding San Diego Police Department warrant. Officers also conducted two ‘Field Interviews’ during the operations.
