Chula Vista - Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department conducted DUI Saturation Patrols on Thursday, September 2nd and Friday, September 3rd, 2010 within the City of Chula Vista.
These DUI Saturation Patrols were aimed at increasing public awareness, decreasing the number of drivers who drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as well as insuring drivers have a valid driver's license.
During these operations, traffic stops were conducted on 89 vehicles. 8 persons were evaluated for driving under the influence and 2 of those drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 2 subjects were arrested for possession of marijuana. One subject was stopped driving a stolen vehicle and was in possession of methamphetamine. Another subject was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm. 12 drivers had no license or a suspended/revoked license. A total of 16 vehicles were impounded for drivers driving without a license, a suspended license, expired registration over 6 months or driver arrested. 9 additional citations were written for various other vehicle code violations.
These were considered successful DUI Saturation Patrols. The Chula Vista Police Department is continuing its efforts to keep our community safe by detecting and deterring impaired drivers.
