1/12/2011 - 5 suspects now in custody following a December home invasion robbery and beating

On Wednesday, December 9, 2010 a home invasion robbery occurred in the Rancho Del Rey area of Chula Vista. The robbery led to the severe beating of the adult male resident of the home.

This began when the victim met, what he believed, were three males on a social media chat line. The victim invited the men to his house. When they arrived another male and an adult female bound and beat the victim then robbed him of $10,000 of electronics and jewelry. The property has not been recovered. The victim's injuries were severe enough that he had to be hospitalized. He has since been released and is recovering.

Since the robbery and beating CVPD investigators have arrested all 5 suspects.

  • The first arrest was made on January 5, 2011 on the 5200 block of Landis Street in San Diego.
  • On the 10th of January, 2 arrests were made in 5000 block of Dwight Street in San Diego, including the female. In this arrest a handgun were recovered.
  • One arrest was made yesterday in the 2,600 block of L Street in San Diego. A shotgun was recovered during the service of a search warrant at the suspect's residence.
  • The fifth suspect was already in custody in San Diego county jail on unrelated charges.

Two of the arrestees were parolees at large with warrants for their arrests. The others were on probation for narcotics and theft related offenses. All 5 arrestees are residents of San Diego.

Due to the ongoing investigation the names and booking photos of the suspects will not be released at this time.
