On Tuesday, March 15th the Sutherland Corporation, owners of the McDonald's restaurants here in the South Bay, along with Allen Elementary School and the Chula Vista Police Foundation joined together to raise money for a new police K9 for the CVPD.
The fundraiser was held at the Bonita McDonald's Restaurant. Teachers, students and their families ate dinner at the restaurant and in doing so a percentage of the sales went to benefit the Chula Vista Police Foundation in its charitable campaign for a new canine team for the Department‟s Patrol Canine program.
The Chula Vista Police Foundation is a 501(c)3, non-profit foundation that supports the Chula Vista Police Department through charitable gifts.
The foundation has been able to secure a donor to fund one canine team, and is actively working on raising funds to support a second canine team.
The “Burgers and a Dog” event was a fun and rewarding fundraiser that was held to promote community service and involvement and enhance public safety.
The foundation and Chula Vista Elementary School District are working with local businesses and service organizations to match school contributions.
