Chula Vista - On May 13th, 2011, Officers from Chula Vista, Coronado, Southwestern College, National City, San Diego, Probation, and San Diego County conducted a multi-agency Minor in Possession Operation in the South Bay Region of the County of San Diego. During the operation, 38 minors, including four under the age of 18, were cited for possession of alcohol, one was cited for public urination, and another was cited for driving with an open container of alcohol.

On May 15th, 2011, Officers from the same agencies conducted a second multi-agency Minor in Possession Operation in the South Bay Region of the County of San Diego. This time 48 minors, including 3 under the age of 18, were cited for minor in possession of alcohol, and 2 others were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors. A saturation patrol was conducted immediately after, resulting in 4 arrests for driving under the influence, including one suspect under the age of 21. Five vehicles were impounded for drivers without valid licenses.

All three of these operations were part of the Repeat Offender DUI Prosecution and Awareness Program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The South Bay Regional law enforcement agencies will be continuing their efforts to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors and intoxicated drivers off of the streets.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
