6/3/2011 - Chula Vista Police Officer arrested for gaming violation

A Chula Vista Police Officer was arrested last night at Sycuan Casino and charged with 337 pc, a gaming violation. He was booked into San Diego County Central Jail and is being held on $10,000 bail.

The Officer is identified as 30-year old Jesus Salazar. He is a 9-year veteran of the department and was most recently assigned to Patrol.

Prior to this arrest Salazar was under investigation for DUI stemming from an arrest on 04/09/2011 by Sycuan Tribal Police. The officer will be placed on unpaid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

He is accused of 337PC, a gaming violation for allegedly using a technique called “capping,” a method of illegally adding more chips to a bet that has already been won.

Section: 337U (e) It is unlawful for any person to commit any of the following acts:

(e) To place or increase a wager after acquiring knowledge of the outcome of the gambling game or other event which is the subject of the wager, including past-posting and pressing wagers.

An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
