San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Chula Vista Police Department are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect(s) wanted for an arson series.
Detectives are investigating several fires which have recently occurred at an elementary school and nearby canyons. On each occasion, several juveniles were seen running from the areas after the fires began or just prior to the fires. The fires are still under investigation and the public is being urged to come forward with any information.
6/28/11 at about 3:05pm at Discovery Elementary School, located at 1100 Camino Biscay, Chula Vista. The damage was to trees and a sign.
6/28/11 at about 3:10pm in the canyon off of Camino Biscay and Avenida De La Barca, Chula Vista. The damage was approximately 800 square feet of brush and was immediately adjacent to a residence. The residence did not sustain any damage.
6/28/11 at about 3:15pm in the canyon off of South Rancho Del Rey Parkway and Buena Vista Way, Chula Vista. The damage was approximately 1200 square feet and immediately adjacent to a residence. The residence did not sustain any damage.
6/30/11 at about 7:30pm in the canyon off of Eastlake Drive and Ridgewater Drive, Chula Vista. The damage was approximately 1/4 acre and was in close proximity to several residences. No residences sustained any damage.
7/12/11 at about 3:00pm in the canyon behind the Ralph's grocery store located at 780 Otay Lakes Rd, Chula Vista. The damage was about 1/2 acre and was adjacent to residential structures. No residences sustained any damage.

Police are also interested in viewing any video or still image photographs of the fires or people seen around them while they were burning.
San Diego Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case. An additional $9,000 reward is available through the Crime Stoppers arson reward fund to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
