On Tuesday August 2nd, 2011, Officers from Chula Vista, National City, San Diego Police, Probation, and the San Diego County Sheriffs Department conducted a multi-agency Minor in Possession operation in the South Bay Region of the County of San Diego. During the operation, several minors were contacted but only one minor was found to be in possession of alcohol. Two people were cited for public urination and one person was cited for possession of marijuana.
Later in the night, the same agencies conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol in the South Bay Region of the County of San Diego. During the operation, 38 vehicles were stopped resulting in 23 drivers being administered SFST'S, 2 people were arrested for DUI and 1 of them was also charged with child endangerment. One person was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. Two vehicles were impounded and fourteen people received citations for other infractions.
This operation was part of the Repeat Offender DUI Prosecution and Awareness Program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The South Bay Regional law enforcement agencies will be continuing their efforts to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors and intoxicated drivers off of the streets.
