Chula Vista - On Tuesday, August 16, 2011, Officers from Chula Vista, Southwestern College, San Diego, Probation, National City, Coronado, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department conducted a multi-agency Court Sting Operation in Chula Vista. The operation was part of the Repeat Offender DUI Prosecution and Awareness Program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. During the operation, 11 drivers were issued citations for driving without valid licenses. One driver was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine, two others for a probation violation, and one for providing false identification to an officer. Ten other drivers received citations for other violations, and 15 vehicles were impounded.
This was considered a successful operation, both in number of unlicensed/suspended drivers removed from the street and in the amount of public awareness generated. The South Bay Regional law enforcement agencies will be continuing their efforts to keep drivers in our community safe.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
