The City of Chula Vista offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day. Closures include all city recreation centers, pools and libraries. All offices and facilities will re-open Tuesday, September 5, under normal operating hours.

Public safety will not be affected by the holiday schedule. Emergency 9-1-1 calls, and police and fire stations will provide regular daily 24-hour services. Public Works Department services including streets and sewers will be available on an emergency-only basis.

Trash removal in the city of Chula Vista will be delayed one day. Those who have collection on Monday will be collected on Tuesday and so forth for the week.

Labor Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social contributions of workers to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. Although the first Labor Day was observed in New York in 1882, it became a federal holiday in 1894.
