AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY CHATS SCHEDULED

Post Date:02/07/2018 9:04 AM

Healthy Chula Vista is creating an Age-Friendly Action Plan and is requesting help from residents. The public is invited to a community roundtable to provide input on how the City can make neighborhoods more livable for people throughout the age spectrum. What is important to you as you get older? How do we attract new talent and create neighborhoods where the younger generation want to raise their families? The roundtable topics will include housing, transportation, health and community, open spaces and buildings, respect and social inclusion/social participation, civic participation and employment, healthy food access and nutrition, communication and information.

Four meetings are scheduled – one in each City council district – but residents can attend any of the meetings. Not sure which council district you live in? Find out through the interactive map at https://tinyurl.com/y6uvb6g3

Please RSVP https://agefriendlycv.eventbrite.com for one of the following: Wednesday, February 21, Montevalle Recreation Center, 840 Duncan Ranch Road, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (District 1 Northeast); Thursday, February 22, South Chula Vista Library, 389 Orange Avenue, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (District 4 Southwest); Wednesday, February 28, Chula Vista Women’s Club, 357 G Street, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (District 2 Northwest); or Thursday, March 1, Heritage Park Community Center, 1381 East Palomar Street, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (District 3 Southeast). Light snacks will be provided.

Another aspect of the Age-Friendly Action Plan is a drawing contest for Chula Vista children in Kindergarten through sixth grade. Each grade features a different theme for the contest entitled “My Future Community.” The contest ends on March 6 and winners will be announced April 2. Prizes are a family four-pack to the Living Coast Discovery Center and one hour of trampoline fun at Sky Zone for the winner in each grade. My Future Community drawing contest entry information and parent waiver can be found at https://goo.gl/v2NPcf.
