Chula Vista is the place to shop and dine in South County.  So many exciting new stores, restaurants, markets and car dealerships offer local consumers an abundance of choices.   Buy everything you need and want-- from furniture and specialty foods to clothes and computers—right here in Chula Vista.

Did you know that by purchasing goods and services in local stores and businesses, you’re investing in your community?  A small portion of the local sales tax paid by consumers goes to the City. In fact, sales tax revenue accounts for 22 percent of the general fund. Those dollars help support Chula Vista’s public services, which include libraries, recreation centers, the street paving program and fire and police protection.

In partnership with the local Chamber of Commerce, the City’s Shop/Dine Chula Vista public awareness campaign is designed to encourage residents to spend money in their own city.  Consider this: It’s easier to shop close to home; you’ll save gas and spend less time on the road in traffic.

Look for the colorful shopping and dining guide for listings of the most popular shopping centers and restaurants.  Remember to clip the Dollars for Dining coupon that offers a discount at participating restaurants.

Dine in Chula Vista"Everyone needs to think Shop/Dine Chula Vista when they’re spending money,” noted Mayor Cox. “Many people don’t realize that by purchasing goods and services in local stores and businesses, they are investing in their community. Not only are they supporting local retailers and restaurants, they’re contributing to sales tax revenues, which help fund vital city services that affect our quality of life.”

"The Chamber of Commerce is pleased to support the Shop/ Chula Vista campaign,” said Lisa Cohen, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce.  "We have more than1,000 members who provide a multitude of services including shopping and dining opportunities for the people who live and work in this community every day of the year.“

Over the past few years, three major shopping districts have opened to consumers including Otay Ranch Town Center, Village Walk at Eastlake and the Eastlake Design Center. South Bay Expressway, the region’s new toll road, delivers shoppers to all three locations.
