Thanksgiving Weekend Closures at Chula Vista Facilities

All City of Chula Vista’s offices, libraries and recreation facilities, will be closed for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, November 26 and 27. In addition, the city’s libraries have the following schedule: Civic Center closed Nov. 26-28, reopening Nov, 29; EastLake branch closed Nov. 26-29 and reopening Nov. 30; and the South Chula Vista Branch closed Nov. 26 until Dec. 1.

MTS Public Outreach Schedule for Major Service Cuts

The Metropolitan Transit System Board of Directors today directed MTS staff to advance a service reduction to help balance its FY10 and FY11 budgets. These service reductions will be primarily on Sundays but it will mean the total elimination of many bus routes, the reduced frequency on bus and trolley routes, and a reduction in the hours served (we will begin service later in the morning and end sooner at night).

The City of Chula Vista has been awarded a $95,000 Congressionally Directed Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to establish a Veterans Wing in the Civic Center Branch of the Chula Vista Public Library. Congressman Bob Filner secured the grant monies in the FY 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act (P.L. 111-8).
