Chula Vista’s Recreation Department offers a wide range of classes from preschool and performing arts to fitness and the creative. Start the summer off right by taking a new class or attending any number of free or low-cost programs. Registration for summer classes at all of the city’s facilities begins on June 9. New children’s and youth classes include Camp Hawaii and Capoeira, which mixes martial arts and dance from Brazil. Special programs include a Snores “n’ S’mores family campout and a park scavenger hunt!
The Summer 2008 Class Directory lists all the recreational classes offered by the city. The online directory is posted on the Web site at www.chulavistaca.gov/rec. Eight-week classes begin the week of July 7, and registration may be completed online, by mail or in person. Registration for these summer recreational classes is on a first-received, first-processed, space-available basis and is scheduled as follows:
Online registration: Residents can register by logging-on to the city’s Web site at www.chulavistaca.gov/rec and link to online registration. Please note that a nominal, nonrefundable fee is charged in addition to the class fee for the online service provided by the registration vendor. Online registrations will be accepted beginning at 2 p.m. on June 9. Call (619) 691-5083 for assistance.
Walk-in registration: Registration will be held June 9 to July 3, Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m. Please note, registration will begin at 2 p.m. on June 9. During the above hours the following locations will accept registrations: Heritage Community Center, 1381 E. Palomar; Loma Verde Center, 1420 Loma Lane; Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St.; Parkway Recreation Center, 373 Park Way; Veterans Park Recreation Center, 785 E. Palomar, Montevalle Recreation Center, 840 Duncan Ranch Road; and Salt Creek Recreation Center, 2710 Otay Lakes Road.
Mail-in Registration: Mail-in registrations must be postmarked between June 9 and July 3; applications postmarked before June 9 will be returned unprocessed.
Tiny Tot Registration: Registration for Tiny Tots programs will be accepted only as a walk-in registration at Salt Creek, Montevalle, Loma Verde, Parkway, and Veterans Recreation Centers on a first come, first served basis on Saturday, June 7 at 9 a.m.
