“Go Green and Clean” Kids Day, August 17
Round up the family and head for the Otay Ranch Town Center Sunday afternoon, August 17 for the fun-filled Go Green and Clean Kids Day event. The shopping center, City of Chula Vista and local environmental groups are participating in this interactive event to give kids some insight into how “going green” will make a difference in their community and their family’s quality of life. Don’t miss the many free giveaways and important environmental information for people of all ages.

From 1–4 p.m., kids will be issued a special “clean” passport, which will be stamped at booths located along the plaza between Barnes & Noble and AMC Theatres. Get a stamp from at least nine booths to earn rewards from participating stores in the Otay Ranch Town Center. Fun activities include the Trash/Recycling Relay and Wheel of Conservation.

“I know my kids will love this event, and the information they absorb will reinforce what they’re learning about in the classroom,” said Mike Hice, the City’s Storm Water Compliance Inspector. “We’re making learning about environmental solutions interesting and fun.”

Sunday’s event is sponsored by the City of Chula Vista, I Love A Clean San Diego and San Diego Gas & Electric. Organizations and businesses represented at the booths include area water agencies, the Chula Vista Nature Center, Tijuana Estuary, Urban Corps, Chula Vista Garden Club, San Diego Audubon Society, High Tech High, REI, I Love A Clean San Diego, Allied Waste, Eco Center of Alternative Fuel Education, and the City of Chula Vista Clean Group.
