|Do you have a great idea for a library card? Start designing now! All Chula Vista library cardholders---from kindergarten students to adults—are invited to participate in a contest to design four new library cards. A total of four winners, representing each of the age groups, will have their designs made into limited edition cards. All applications must be received by October 15 at 5 p.m. “My First Library Card” is the theme for kindergarten through third graders. “I Love My Library” is the theme for all other age groups.
“Our staff can’t wait to see what new ideas and designs are created for the library’s contest,” said Chula Vista Library Director Leah Browder. “Similar programs have been a great success in other cities across the country, and we think there’s a great deal of talent in our city.” The contest will be coordinated with the Chula Vista Elementary and Sweetwater Union High School District.
The library will announce the winners at a reception for all participants in early December. In February, the new cards will be available for purchase as part of the American Library Association’s annual “Library Lovers Month.” Anyone who is not a current cardholder may visit a Chula Vista library and apply for a card, then enter the contest. To read the rules and get an application, go to www.chulavistalibrary.com or visit one of the three Chula Vista libraries at the following locations: 365 F St., 389 Orange Ave., and 1120 EastLake Parkway.
