|Chula Vista libraries will offer sports clinics the first three Saturdays in November, giving kids and teens a chance to learn some new football and street hockey skills. On Nov. 1 at the EastLake Branch, the library’s DASH leaders will run a football clinic. On Nov. 8, a street hockey clinic will be offered at the South Chula Vista Branch. Another football clinic will be held at the Civic Center Branch on Nov. 15. All clinics begin at 11 a.m.
To offer these clinics, the library is partnering with its after-school programs. The programs, known as DASH (Dynamic After School Hours) and STRETCH (Safe Time for Recreational Enrichment for Children), are offered at Chula Vista Elementary schools after each school day.
“This is a great opportunity for the library to offer free clinics to kids and teens using resources that we already have available to us,” said Patrice O’Halloran, who oversees the after-school programs. “We have been exploring partnership options, and thought this would be a great chance to attract people to our libraries who may not be regular visitors.”
Children and teens may pre-register for any or all of the clinics at the library’s website, www.chulavistalibrary.com, or by calling or visiting any of the branches. The libraries are Civic Center, 365 F St., (619) 691-5069; South Chula Vista, 389 Orange Ave., (619) 585-5755; and EastLake, 1120 Eastlake Parkway, (619) 397-3980.
