| City To Host Public Workshops On Stimulus Funds, March 23 |
| |
At two workshops Monday, March 23, Chula Vista residents will learn what lies ahead for their community in securing some of the nation’s economic stimulus monies for important local projects and services. Cities across the country are gearing up to compete for “economic stimulus” funds provided by
the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Barack Obama.
The City of Chula Vista and the League of California Cities will provide an overview of the economic stimulus package. During breakout sessions, the public will have an opportunity to hear about specific funding opportunities from department directors and to discuss how those resources may be applied throughout the City.
California League of Cities representative Catherine Hill will open both workshops with the latest information on how the federal and state governments are managing stimulus dollars. City of Chula Vista representatives from a number of departments--Police, Fire, Housing, Engineering, Planning, Public Works, and Conservation -- will outline their plans and priorities for stimulus funds and discuss the next steps in securing those monies.
Monday afternoon’s workshop begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room at police headquarters (315 Fourth Avenue). The evening session is slated for 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
